Author Guidelines

  1. Scope and Topics

DevOps: An Open Access Journal publishes high-quality research articles, case studies, technical reports, and reviews that focus on DevOps practices, methodologies, tools, and technologies. The journal welcomes submissions that cover both theoretical and practical advancements in DevOps. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • DevOps frameworks and methodologies
  • Continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Automation in software development and operations
  • Cloud-native development and DevOps practices
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • DevOps in software quality assurance and testing
  • AI and machine learning applications in DevOps
  • Security practices in DevOps (DevSecOps)
  • Monitoring, observability, and logging in DevOps
  • Organizational culture and DevOps transformation
  • DevOps for microservices and containerized environments
  • Toolchains and technologies supporting DevOps
  1. Types of Submissions

The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles: Detailed studies presenting original research in DevOps methodologies, tools, or case studies.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive surveys of the current state of research and practice in DevOps.
  • Case Studies: Real-world applications of DevOps practices in various organizations or industries.
  • Technical Notes: Brief, focused reports or updates on specific tools, techniques, or methodologies.
  • Letters to the Editor: Short communications that present new ideas, challenges, or advancements in the field.
  1. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be submitted in English and should follow the structure outlined below:

Title Page

  • Title of the paper (concise and descriptive).
  • Full names of all authors and their institutional affiliations.
  • Corresponding author details, including email address and phone number.
  • A running title (up to 50 characters).
  • Key words: A list of 4-6 keywords that best describe the manuscript.

Abstract

  • The abstract should provide a clear and concise summary of the objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions of the study.
  • It should be between 150-250 words, without references to figures, tables, or equations.

Main Text

  • Introduction: Provide background information on the problem being addressed, the significance of the study, and a brief literature review.
  • Related Work: Summarize relevant research in the DevOps field to contextualize the study.
  • Methodology: Describe the approach, tools, techniques, and experiments used in the study. Include any necessary technical details and algorithms.
  • Results and Discussion: Present the results, supported by figures and tables. Discuss the findings, including comparisons to existing work and their implications for DevOps practices.
  • Conclusion: Summarize the findings and suggest possible directions for future research or practical applications.

Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables should be numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).
  • Each figure and table must have a descriptive caption.
  • Ensure that all figures and tables are clearly labeled and formatted for readability. High-resolution images (300 dpi) in formats such as .jpg, .png, or .tiff are preferred.

References

  • References should be formatted according to the journal’s citation style. We recommend using IEEE style or a similar academic citation format.
  • All references cited in the text must be listed in the reference section.
  • Ensure that all references are complete and up-to-date.
  1. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s online submission system. Authors need to create an account or log in to submit their manuscripts. During submission, authors will be asked to provide information on potential conflicts of interest, ethical considerations, and data availability.

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere. Manuscripts must not contain any plagiarized content. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to check for similarity.
  • Data Integrity: Authors must ensure that data presented in the manuscript is accurate, verifiable, and reproducible. Misrepresentation of data is grounds for rejection.
  • Human and Animal Rights: Any research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical guidelines. Authors must submit statements of ethical approval where applicable.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the study.

Upon acceptance, authors are required to assign copyright of their work to the publisher. The journal is an open access journal, and all articles will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) license, which allows others to share, remix, and build upon the work, provided appropriate credit is given and the use is non-commercial.
