Some of the most talked-about aspects of Industry 4.0 include AI and ML. There are several ways in which production systems
might benefit from these methods, which are fast developing in both theory and practice, including making them more resilient
and enhancing their capacity for sustainable development. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the manufacturing sector have the opportunity to enhance their core processes or innovate at the product level to remain competitive by utilizing AI and ML. However, the full potential of these technologies has not yet been realized due to the effort required for
their implementation, which includes concerns about data quality and employee skills. This study examines the current uses of
AI and ML in manufacturing MSMEs, identifies their limits and problems, and delivers its findings based on a scoping literature
assessment. It also provides a synopsis of the most important new areas of study and upcoming trends.
